Dell EqualLogic FS7600/FS7610 Unified Storage Solution
File services are provided by the FS7600 Series through industry-standard CIFS/SMB and NFS protocols over standard Ethernet interfaces. The FS7600 supports 1GbE connectivity to the SAN and client network while the FS7610 supports 10GbE connectivity for even faster access to file data and larger file systems.More
The FS7600 Series uses the Dell Fluid File System (FluidFS) v2 to optimize file access performance and hardware utilization while eliminating capacity constraints. It presents a single file-system namespace through a virtual IP address, regardless of cluster size, and it enables you to expand a single file system up to the capacity of the EqualLogic deployment (maximum of 509TB usable storage).
As your needs grow and change, you can easily scale your EqualLogic Unified SAN/NAS system for both capacity and performance without disrupting the storage system or applications. For more capacity, simply add more EqualLogic arrays; for increased performance, add more FS7600 Series systems.
Deployment and management of the FS7600 Series is fully integrated into EqualLogic Group Manager, including administration, monitoring and maintenance operations. Group Manager automates the initial setup and configuration of your FS7600 system, simplifying the process of creating volumes and shares.
Dell EqualLogic FS7500 Unified Storage Solution
The Dell EqualLogic FS7500 adds Network-attached storage (NAS) capability to the EqualLogic product line to provide a high performance, scale-out, unified storage solution. The FS7500 is powered by the Dell Fluid File System (FluidFS), Dell's high-performance, clustered, and network-accessible file system. Dual active-active controllers, redundant power supplies and fans, and battery-backed cache make the FS7500 an ideal solution for NAS deployments requiring high availability and high reliability.
The FS7500 extends the EqualLogic architecture to provide an integrated unified storage architecture compatible with all existing EqualLogic iSCSI arrays. All block and file data are stored on the backend EqualLogic PS Series group. File services are provided by the FS7500 through industry-standard CIFS/SMB and NFS protocols over standard Ethernet interfaces. Storage administrators may scale a single file share up to the capacity of the EqualLogic deployment and manage the unified storage infrastructure through a single interface.
The FS7500 fully supports classic EqualLogic family values, including pay as you grow scalability, ease-of-use and all-inclusive software licensing. File services performance can be seamlessly expanded on the fly by scaling out, i.e., adding an additional FS7500 NAS head into the EqualLogic group, without disrupting the storage system or applications. Management of the FS7500 is integrated directly into the EqualLogic Group Manager to improve productivity, making it easy to configure and manage iSCSI, CIFS and NFS storage.

Physically and logically combining arrays, a PS Storage Stack enables you to configure storage pools or tiers to optimize performance and capacity according to application-specific demands. Administrators have the ability to prioritize applications within a SAN by placing them on separate storage resources, each optimally configured for the required service level of the application. They can configure separate storage pools within a single SAN to help build an efficient, flexible, easy-to-manage storage environment. Using this "SAN within a SAN," administrators can gain the advantages of consolidation, but can also easily separate workloads as needed: by application, by service level, by disk type, by cost, or even by department within the organization.
For example, larger high-density EqualLogic PS Series arrays can be placed in a dedicated pool to provide capacity-oriented tiers of storage for files, near-line applications, archiving, and de-duplicated backups. Because online data movement is built into all of Dell's EqualLogic PS Series arrays, administrators can adjust application resources and move data between different pools of storage without downtime or disruption.
